On October 8th, the Lake Highland and First Academy Girls Volleyball teams did not wear their respective school’s official colors of red and blue. Instead, they traded them in for Pink in support of breast cancer for Lake Highland’s annual “Dig Pink” game.
In the five years that the Highlanders have held this special game, an emphasis has been placed on raising money to support breast cancer research. As part of the game, each school chooses a different organization to support. This year, the Highlanders selected the Breast Cancer Research Fund. Through a spirit day for students and donations at the door, Lake Highland raised over $1700 dollars.
Although the record books might add one to the loss column for Lake Highland and the win column for TFA, at the end of the night both of the teams were winners. They know that every cent they can raise counts in the fight, helping to settle the score with breast cancer once and for all.
